Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority- West Monitors High River Levels
MARRERO, La. – March 10, 2020 – The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – West (SLFPA-W) continues to inspect the Mississippi River Levees as the river crested at 17.1 feet on March 5.
In conjunction with the Army Corps of Engineers, SLFPA-W Inspectors are examining the levees seven days a week. While there are a few areas of known seepage, there are no major issues to be concerned with. The structural stability of the levees remains intact.
SLFPA-W is monitoring construction within 1500 feet of the levees to ensure that there are no excavation or pile driving activities. Inspection activities will continue until the river falls below 11 feet at the Carrollton gauge.
