SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA FLOOD PROTECTION AUTHORITY – WEST GATE CLOSURE STATUS REPORT 4
MARRERO, La. (June 7) – The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – West (SLFPA-W) continues to carefully monitor the Tropical Storm Cristobal in the Gulf of Mexico.
Tropical Storm Cristobal has slowed down significantly and most of the impacts will come from heavy rainfall. SLFPA-W has closed the sector gates at Bayou Segnette and Harvey Canal. SLFPA-W will coordinate pumping efforts with Jefferson Parish.
The gate at Boomtown and the gate at Highway 45 remain open. 19 floodgates on the Mississippi River will remain open. The area SLFPA-W manages remains under a tropical storm warning. SLFPA-W will continue to notify Mariners and the public of gate closures and openings via text messages, Twitter and Facebook.
