SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA FLOOD PROTECTION AUTHORITY – WEST GATE CLOSURE STATUS REPORT 3
MARRERO, La. (June 7) – The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – West (SLFPA-W) continues to carefully monitor the Tropical Storm Cristobal in the Gulf of Mexico.
Based on projections for Tropical Storm Cristobal, SLFPA-W will likely not hit the closure trigger at the West Closure Complex, but has closed Bayou Segnette and Harvey Canal Sector Gates. SLFPA-W has been in contact with Boomtown and will reopen the gates today, Sunday, June 7, at noon.
19 floodgates on the Mississippi River will remain open. The area SLFPA-W manages remains under a tropical storm warning. SLFPA-W will continue to notify Mariners and the public of gate closures and openings via text messages, Twitter and Facebook.
