The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-West (SLFPA-W) continues to monitor Tropical Storm Harvey for possible effects on West Bank residents and businesses. Tropical Storm Harvey made landfall this morning south of Lake Charles and its current path favors less rain than anticipated for the Greater New Orleans area. The Bayou Segnette Sector Gate was closed yesterday at 5 p.m., and will remain closed until the floodside water levels fall below 2.5′. In addition to the Bayou Segnette Sector Gate, the United States Army Corps of Engineers closed the Harvey Sector Gate at Lapalco this morning.

The National Weather Service is still predicting that total expected rainfall will be 5 to 10 inches as well as tides that are 1 to 3 feet above normal.
