SOUTHEAST LOUISIANA FLOOD PROTECTION AUTHORITY – WEST GATE STATUS REPORT
MARRERO, La. (Sept. 15) – The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – West (SLFPA-W) jurisdictional area is now outside the impacted area as Hurricane Sally has continued to track further east. The fully activated Emergency Operations Center (EOC) will begin to stand down at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 15, with normal operations and maintenance resuming Wednesday, September 16.
SLFPA-W has begun reopening gates along Peters Road and gates on the Hurricane and Storm Damage Risk Reduction System (HSDRRS) to allow businesses to resume normal operations.
There are currently 32 out of 67 floodgates closed. SLFPA-W continues to monitor the water levels at Bayou Segnette and Harvey Canal. SLFPA-W does not anticipate closure.

Operations
- Text messages are being sent to the public and mariners to notify them of closures.
- Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated at 6:00 a.m. September 14.
- Coordination calls are ongoing with NWS, USACE, USCG, GOHSEP, CPRA and JP officials.
