MARRERO, La. – (Jan. 8, 2016) – On Monday, Jan. 11, the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority – West (SLFPA-W) will begin 24-hour levee inspections, following the opening of the Bonnet Carre Spillway by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The spillway is set to open at 10 a.m. on Sunday, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers expects the Mississippi River to crest at 17 ft. on Tuesday, Jan. 12.
Earlier this week, SLFPA-W began its Phase 2 Flood Fight procedures, performing increased river levee inspections from sunup to sundown.
