The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-West (SLFPA-W) continues to monitor Tropical Storm Harvey for possible effects on West Bank residents and businesses. Tropical Storm Harvey has
re-entered the Gulf of Mexico with 40 mile per hour winds and is expected to make its second landfall between Galveston and Port Arthur, Texas, Wednesday morning.

Tropical Storm Harvey’s eastward movement will more than likely result in heavy rain for the West Bank of Jefferson and Algiers. The National Weather Service is predicting that total expected rainfall will be 5 to 10 inches as well as tides that are 1 to 3 feet above normal. As previously stated, the Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-West (SLFPA-W) will be required to close the Bayou Segnette Sector Gate in the coming days; however, SLFPA-W does not anticipate any closures today.
