The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-West (SLFPA-W) continues to monitor Tropical Storm Harvey for possible effects on West Bank residents and businesses. Tropical Storm Harvey is currently in the Gulf of Mexico moving east-northeast at 3 miles per hour with 45 mile per hour winds and is expected to make its second landfall between the Texas and Louisiana state line mid-day Wednesday. There is a tropical storm watch between Morgan City and Grand Isle.

Tropical Storm Harvey’s eastward movement will more than likely result in heavy rain for the West Bank of Jefferson and Algiers. The National Weather Service is still predicting that total expected rainfall will be 5 to 10 inches as well as tides that are 1 to 3 feet above normal. SLFPA-W anticipates the closure of the Bayou Segnette Sector Gate this afternoon.
